They all lost her as they twisted and turned down the pathways of their dreams. They each built a section of the city to mimic the same paths that they chased the woman through but arranged the roads differently so that she cannot escape. Years later more men were attracted to this same spot by a similar dream of pursuing a woman in this city.
I imagine that the city of Zobeide has become a trap for men following in the footsteps of its many architects. They enter the city expecting their dreams to come true only to wander within Zobeide’s walls forever. As a game space I plan to model out just a section of the city. The player would begin in a central location of the city maybe something like a town square or watch tower . The objective of the game would be to find a way to escape the city. I was also thinking of incorporating some signs of the mysterious woman on in the game to maybe mislead the player, kind of like a trick objective. As a puzzle aspect of the game I picture the character moving loose blocks left by architects of the past to construct their own bridges and stepping stones To climb over walls and reach switches and or revealing secrete paths.
As an emotional aspect I would like the player to feel a tad clueless as to how to complete the mini obstacles, but curious enough to find tools to escape. At the end I would like the player to feel accomplished.
As of the art style I picture something like The unreal maps a smooth stone like town that looks aged. I imagine somthing from the babylonian era with very primative doors and walls. I would like a very dry and bright feel in my level, and some dark shadowy areas. Zobeide will be surrounded by a dessert and the actual city will give the feel of a dried out oasis. Wooden doors and giant stone colomns. For the look i would like to go a for a more realistic feel to the level.
